Howdy! JetTip's been up and running for more than a year now, and I figured it was time to setup a blog to help curate content I'd otherwise be tweeting about and start earning some of that sweet, sweet SEO mojo.

An interesting day at MSP with the An-225 and two diverted 747s. June 30, 2014.

While airplanes have always been interesting to me, I really caught the avgeek bug in 2014 when the Antonov An-225 visited Minneapolis and I discovered the awesome Facebook community devoted to spotting aircraft here. After catching my first round of oddball diversions to MSP when Chicago had bad weather, I was hooked.

Things kind of snowballed from there... I started feeding ADS-B data to FlightAware in December 2015, and started building the foundation for what would eventually become JetTip in the spring of 2017. JetTip launched with coverage at five US airports on September 26, 2017, and today there's coverage at just about every major airport in the US and Canada. JetTip's smart flight alerts are used by reporters to catch wind of news-worthy diversions, airport social media teams to find interesting content for their visitors, and aviation enthusiasts across North America so they can catch unusual aircraft when they come to visit their airport - even for aircraft they wouldn't have otherwise known about.

In any event, if you've ever been excited by a visit of an unusual airline at your airport, have gotten a small hit of adrenaline when you noticed an aircraft was a 757 instead of an A320, or know what "special livery" means, you're in the right place.
