Kalitta 747 dons mask to highlight fight against COVID-19

Kalitta Air, a cargo airline based in Ypsilanti, MI, will soon be flying a 747 with a surgical mask painted on its nose. It will be the first US-based carrier with an aircraft donning a mask to support the fight against COVID-19. Given the mix of scheduled and charter services flown by Kalitta, it's safe to assume this aircraft will visit a large number of airports in the US and around the world.

N744CK, a 747-400 BCF, started its career as a passenger hauler for Japan Airlines in 1993; it's now been in Kalitta's fleet for two decades. The aircraft is currently undergoing a heavy check at the airline's maintenance facility in Oscoda, MI, and is expected to return to service around the end of the month.
