New Diversion Alerts

Bad weather days in Chicago are often great plane watching days in Minneapolis. Case in point: this China Cargo 777F diverting to MSP in February, 2022.

Diversions are one of the most interesting parts of the hobby of plane spotting. Yes, they're a headache for airlines, airports, passengers, and crews, but weather, mechanical and medical issues are part of life for everyone, including aviation. While JetTip's smart flight alerts have always notified subscribers when unusual aircraft are diverting to their airport, many of our customers are interested to know when any aircraft is diverting, even if the equipment itself wouldn't usually attract any avgeek attention.

Today we're pleased to announce our subscribers now have access to two additional types of smart flight alerts:

• Inbound diversion alerts (one notification per flight), for when any trackable flight is diverting to your airport
• Multiple diversion alerts (one notification per event, so you won't get swamped), when multiple flights are diverting away from another airport

We're particularly proud of the multiple diversion alert product, which will be very helpful for getting an early heads-up on days when a nearby hub might be sending interesting diversions your way, even if the first few flights have been getting sent to other airports - think of spotters near Minneapolis and Milwaukee monitoring Chicago, Oklahoma City keeping tabs on DFW, or Boston watching JFK and EWR.
